Correlation between the quenching of total GT+ strength and the increase of E2 strength
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Relations between the total fl+ Gamow-Teller (GT+) strength and the E2 strength are further examined. It is found that in shell-model calculations for N = Z nuclei, in which changes in deformation are induced by varying the single-particle energies, the total GT+ or GT_ strength decreases monotonically with increasing values of the B (E2) from the ground state to the first excited jn = 2 + state. Similar trends are also seen for the double GT transition amplitude (with some exceptions) and for the spin part of the total M1 strength as a function of B(E2).

متن کاملOptimization of thermomechanical parameters to produce an ultra-high strength compressor disk
Structural steels with very high strength levels are often referred to as ultrahigh-strength steels (UHSS). The usage of UHSS has been extensively studied in aerospace industries and offshore platforms. In this study, medium carbon low alloy steel (AMS6305) was thermomechanicaly treated to obtain an ultra-high strength bainitic steel for aircraft engine compressor disk. A novel themomechanical ...

and t6 are the isospin raising and lowering single-particle operators. Two main proposals were made to explain this puzzling quenching of the GT strength; ~1! the missing strength is removed to the very high excitation energy of about 300 MeV above the ground state due to the process in which a nucleon is transformed into a D33 resonance, or more precisely the GT strength is removed due to the ...
متن کاملThe Correlation between the CBR and Shear Strength in Unsaturated Soil Conditions
In pavement design, the CBR and direct shear tests are two very common laboratory investigations for predicting the strength of a subgrade layer. The relationship between the CBR and water content has been commonly presented in analyses, with the result of the direct shear being expressed from the aspect of effective cohesion and the internal friction angle. Even though most natural soil is in...
متن کاملCorrelation between the Weld Residual Stresses and its Tensile and Impact Strength
In this study, the tensile strength, impact strength, and the hardness of the weld are determined. A criterion is proposed for describing the effect of residual stress on the weld mechanical properties. Dimensionless parameters such as Rya (the average of residual stress over the material yield strength), Rym (the maximum residual stress over the material yield strength), ...
